A truly lovely pair of vintage Victorian earrings set with a matching pair of individually hand carved Heliotrope (Bloodstone) cameos mounted in 9ct Gold. Inspired by jewels discovered in the excavations of Roman, Egyptian, Hellenistic and Etruscan sites and shown in museums across the world during what we now refer to as the Archaeological Revival period artisan jewellers created both copies and items influenced by them. 

The dark, dark green of the Bloodstone is speckled with the tiny red spots of Jasper, the earthy tones contrasting with the gold sheen of the settings. Likely carved on the Continent, perhaps in Italy, the carving of the two goddesses have beautiful movement particularly to their draperies as they stand profile dressed in the Roman style. A really special pair of antique earrings for the lover of history!

We have added a new pair of earring tops with nice clip/close backs to replace the original screw fittings. They measure 5.5cm from the top of the wires, the drops themselves measure 3.5cm.
